Improving Health Outside The Hospital Walls

Medical care alone is insufficient to improve health and well-being. Social factors, such as poverty and adverse childhood experiences, and behavioral factors, such as tobacco use and sugar consumption, are equally if not more critical to our health. Addressing these factors can yield substantial improvements in health that can reduce need for medical care. UCSF faculty are conducting cutting edge research to identify social and behavioral factors that affect health and effective strategies for addressing these needs.
