Mark Juergensmeyer interviews Ananya Roy, Professor of City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley. She traces about her path from her upbringing in Calcutta, India to her current position as Professor of City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley. She is an expert in global poverty, particularly in urban centers, and shares her experiences with the undergraduate program in Global Poverty and Practice which she founded at Berkeley. She talks about her teaching (including using Twitter and animated video), her motivated students and her research which are all quite intertwined. (#28473)
