Rupe Conference on Media Ownership: The Current Conditions and Trends of Media Ownership

On May 21, 2005 the Rupe Conference on Media Ownership: Research and Regulation was held at the Victoria Theatre in Santa Barbara, California. Sponsored by the Center for Film, Television and New Media at UC Santa Barbara, participants dealt with several topics related to the conference theme. In the opening session, Professor Eli Noam of the Columbia University School of Business gave the keynote talk entitled: "Media Concentration Trends in America: Data, Facts & Fiction". Professor Denise Bielby of the Department of Sociology at UC Santa Barbara gave the followup address on "Global Media Ownership". Jennifer Holt, Visiting Assistant Professor at USC then moderated questions from the audience directed at the two speakers. (#11045)
