Ranging from the ridiculous to the revolutionary, gadgets have stirred hopes of wealth and fame for their inventors. Some gadgets have been invented for entirely altruistic reasons, others out of sheer love of all things technical, and yet others, by complete accident. In this talk, UC Berkeley Professor Albert P.
